GROUPING OF PLANTS

These plants are in the same group. They are flowering plants.


WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THESE TWO PLANTS?

Maize and sugar cane plants are similar because both are flowering plants, have long leaves and soft stems.

EXTERNAL FEATURES OF PLANTS

Most plants have the same main parts: leaves, stems, flowers and fruits. However , these features do not look the same.

External features can be group animals. How do you group these animals?

Animals can be grouped according to their similarities.

Example: Animals with four legs are in the same group.


 

WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN A PARROT AND AN OSTRICH?

Things that look the same are called similar. Things that do not look the same are called different. When we compare two things, we look for their similarities and differences.


  • A parrot and an ostrich have similar external features . Both have wings, beak and two legs. Their bodies are covered with feathers.
  • A parrot and an ostrich also have different external features. An ostrich has a long neck and two long legs. The beak of a parrot is short and hooked. An ostrich has a flat beak.

An elephant has four legs, a trunk, tusks, head and eyes. It also has a big ears and body.























This fish has head, eyes, fins, tail and scales covering its body.
